Wedding Dress Pattern to Knit & Crochet

TECHNIQUE USED: Knit & Crochet
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Bust 36 1/2 (40 1/2, 44 1/2, 48 1/2)"/93 (103, 113, 123) cm
Length 36 (37 1/2, 39, 39 1/2)"/91.5 (95, 99, 100) cm

MATERIALS
Caron International's Simply Soft (100% acrylic):
#9702 Off White, 24 (30, 30, 36) oz
One circular size US 6 needles (4 mm), 29"(73.5 cm) long, or size to
obtain gauge
Crochet hook size US G-6 (4 mm)
Stitch markers
Stitch holder
Yarn needle
4 yds 3/4" grosgrain or satin ribbon
Sewing needle and matching thread

GAUGE
In Stockinette st, 20 sts and 28 rows = 4"/10 cm
In Crochet Lace Pattern, 20 st and 8 rows = 4"/10 cm

ABBREVIATIONS
dc2tog (cluster):[Yarn over, insert hook in st and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops],  twice in same st or ch as indicated, yarn over and draw through 3 loops on hook.
STITCHES USED
Stockinette St (st st)
Chain (ch)
Double crochet (dc)

Crochet Lace worked in-the-round (begins with a multiple of 10 sts; increases to 12)

Round 1: Ch 1, skip first ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, skip 2 ch, dc2tog (cluster made) in next ch, ch 1, skip next ch, dc2tog in next ch, * ch 3, skip 2 ch, sc into next ch, ch 1, skip 1 ch, sc into next ch, ch 3, skip 2 ch, dc2tog in next ch, ch 1, skip next ch, dc2tog in next ch; repeat from * around to last 3 ch, ch 3, skip 2 ch, sc in last ch, join with a slip st to beg ch-1.
Round 2: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch-1), dc in same st as join (first cluster made), ch 3, skip ch-3 space and cluster, sc in ch-1 space between the 2 clusters of previous row, * ch 3, skip cluster and ch-3 space, [(dc, ch 1) twice, dc] in ch-1 space between the 2 sc of previous row, ch 3, skip ch-3 space and cluster, sc in ch-1 space between 2 clusters of previous row; repeat from * around to last ch-3 space, ch 3, skip cluster and ch-3 space, dc in same ch- space as first dc, ch 1, join with a slip st to third ch of beginning ch-4.

Repeat Rounds 2 – 5 for Lace patt.
Note: Lace pattern looks the same on both sides. When working Sleeve Cap, decrease as indicated, then continue in pattern as established.

NOTES
  1. Garment is worked in the round to underarm; Back and Front are worked separately in St st to shoulders.
  2. Sleeves are worked in the round to beginning of Cap Shaping, then worked back and forth in rows.
LOWER SKIRT (Crochet)
Using hook, chain 210 (220, 230, 240); join with a slip st to first st, being careful not to twist sts.
Begin Lace patt—252 (264, 276, 288) sts after Rnd 1.
Work even until piece measures 9 (10, 10, 10 1/2)" from beginning; do NOT fasten off.

UPPER SKIRT (Knit)
Change to circular needle.
In last crochet row, including st on hook, pick up and knit 126 (132, 138, 144) sts for Back, pm for side seam; pick up and knit 126 (132, 138, 144) sts for Front; join, pm for beg of rnd—252 (264, 276, 288) sts.
Work even in St st until piece measures 10 (11, 11, 11 1/2)" from beg.
Shape Sides
Beg this rnd, dec 1 st each side at each marker this rnd then every 5 (5, 5, 6) rnds 18 (16, 14, 12) times—4 sts dec each rnd; 180 (200, 220, 240) sts rem.
Work even until piece measures 23 (24, 24 1/2, 24)" from beg.
Bind off all sts; do NOT cut yarn; place last st on hook.

RIBBON INSERT BAND (Crochet)
Change to hook; ch 1, sc in each st around bound off edge, join with a slip st to first st—180 (200, 220, 240) sc.
Rnd 1: Begin Lace patt, working into sc instead of ch on Rnd 1—216 (240, 264, 288) sts
Rnd 2: Work even in Lace patt.
Rnd 3 (Insertion Round): Ch 5 (counts as 1 tr and ch 2), * skip 2 sts, [tr, ch 2] in next st; repeat from * around to last 3 sts, skip 2 sts, tr in last st, join with a slip st to third ch of beg ch-5.
Rnds 4 and 5: Work Rnds 4 and 5 of lace patt.
Rnd 6: Work 180 (200, 220, 240) sc evenly around, join with a slip st to first st; do NOT fasten off.

BODICE (Knit)
Change to circular needle.
In last crochet row, pick up and knit 90 (100, 110, 120) sts for Back, pm for side seam; pick up and knit 90 (100, 110, 120) sts for Front; join, pm for beg of rnd—180 (200, 220, 240) sts.
Begin St st; work even for 4 rnds.
Shape Sides
Dec 2 sts evenly around (1 st before each marker—178 (198, 218, 238) sts rem.
Work even in St st until piece meas 27 1/2 (28 1/2, 29 1/2, 29 1/2)" from beg.
Divide for Front and Back
Bind off 5 (6, 7, 8) sts for underarm, knit across 84 (93, 102 111) sts for Back, turn; place rem 89 (99, 109, 119) sts on holder for Front.

BACK
(WS) Cont in St st, working on Back sts only, bind off 5 (6, 7, 8) sts for underarm, purl to end—79 (87, 95, 103) sts rem for Back.
Shape Armholes
(RS) Bind off 2 (2, 3, 4) sts at beginning of next 2 rows—75 (83, 89, 95) sts rem.
(RS) Beg this row, dec 1 st each side every other row 3 (4, 5, 6) times— 69 (75, 79, 83) sts rem.
Work even until armhole measures 7 1/2 (8, 8 1/2, 9)" from beg of shaping, end with a WS row; pm each side of center 25 (25, 27, 29) sts for neck.
Shape Shoulders and Neck
(RS) Bind off 6 (7, 8, 9) sts at beginning of next 2 rows, then 7 (8, 8, 8) sts at beginning of next 4 rows for shoulders, and AT THE SAME TIME, on the first row of shoulder shaping, work across to first marker; join a second ball of yarn and bind off center sts, work to end. Working both sides at same time, dec 1 st at each neck edge every row 2 times, while completing shoulder shaping.

FRONT
Place Front sts from holder on needle, ready to work a RS row; join yarn at underarm.
(RS) Cont in St st, bind off 5 (6, 7, 8) sts at beg of next 2 rows—79 (87, 95, 103) sts rem.
Shape Armholes
Work as for Back, and AT THE SAME TIME, when armhole meas 1 (1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2)" from beg of shaping, end with a WS row; pm each side of center stitch.
Shape Neck
(RS) Work across to first marker; join a second ball of yarn and bind off center st, work to end—39 (43, 47, 51) sts each side.
Working both sides at same time, at each neck edge, dec 1 st every row 0 (0, 2, 6) times, every other row 19 (20, 21, 20) times—20 (23, 24, 25) sts rem each shoulder.  Work even until armhole meas same as Back to shoulder shaping, end with a WS row.
Shape Shoulders
Work as for Back.

SLEEVES (Crochet)
Lower Sleeve
Using hook, ch 60 (70, 70, 80).
Begin Lace patt—72, (84, 84, 96) sts after Rnd 1.
Work even until piece measures 12 (13 1/2, 131/2,14)" from beg, end Rnd 2 of pattern.
Ribbon Insert Band
Work as Rnd 3 of Insert band between Skirt and Bodice.
Upper Sleeve
Cont in pattern until piece measures 18 (19, 20, 20)" from the beg.
Shape Cap
Note: Sleeve Cap is worked back and forth in rows; decrease as indicated, then continue in pattern as established.  (RS) Beg this row, dec 6 sts each side every row 5 (6, 6, 7) times as follows:
At beg of rnd, slip 6 sts, * ch 1, work in patt as established across to last 6 sts, turn, leaving rem sts unworked—12 sts remain.
Fasten off.

FINISHING
Block pieces to measurements.  Sew shoulder seams. Set in sleeves.
Edging (Neck, Sleeve and Hem – Crochet)
With RS facing, using hook, join yarn at seam.
Ch 1, work 1 row sc evenly around, join with a slip st to first st.
Picot edge: Ch 1, sc in first sc, * ch 3, slip st in third ch from hook, skip 1 st, sc in next st; repeat from * around, join with a slip st to first st.
Fasten off.
Ribbon Inserts
Sleeves: Beg at seam, weave ribbon through Insert band, adjusting to fit. Using sewing needle and matching thread, sew ends of ribbon to underarm seam to secure.
Body: Beg at center Front, weave ribbon through insert band of garment; tie in bow at center Front as shown. Using sewing needle and thread secure bow to center Front, if desired.
Using yarn needle, weave in all ends.
